The mechanical system designed for the building was a two-pipe hydronic system. The Construction Managers advised that an all-electric system would be $800,000 less expensive. At the request of the Division of School Planning, Alternate quotations were developed to compare actual bid prices of the hydronic system and electric system. The bidding process proved the all-electric system was actually $300,000 more expensive than the hydronic system.
The NC Department of Public Instruction recognized this school in “Schools of Interest”.
